Wedding at The Arts House

Our second gig of of 12 May was at The Arts House at The Old Parliament. Nichol and Joan’s wedding solemnisation was to take place in The Chamber. We played a specially customised string quartet arrangement of “O Mio Babbino Caro”, an extremely famous and popular Italian soprano aria for Joan’s march-in, and witnessed one of the most endearing wedding moments ever.

After the ceremony, we proceeded to the foyer outside the function rooms to play our regular mix as the guests helped themselves to the buffet.

The description of the Chamber on The Arts House’s website is apt:

“Also known as the “heart” of the Old Parliament House, the former Parliamentary Debating Chamber radiates grandeur and gravitas, and will certainly make a lasting impression. Modelled after the British House of Commons utilising furnishings made and imported from London, the Chamber has a Westminster-style seating arrangement with seats facing each other.”

No wonder we couldn’t resist taking a few more photos.

Wedding at InterContinental Singapore

12 May 2012 is indeed a popular day for weddings! Our third gig of the day saw us at InterContinental Singapore to play for Wee Giap and Elisa’s wedding. We played Bach’s Gavotte for the solemnisation’s march-in, followed by Bach’s Air for the signing of register. To lighten the atmosphere, we played the swingy Theme from New York, New York for the hotel’s first dish presentation, then continued with our regular mix as the dinner commenced. Jay led the way as a violin solo for the couple’s second march-in of the night with Pachelbel’s Canon in D. (videos coming soon!)

Kind words from Wee Giap:

Jay, thanks a lot for the outstanding performance last night. Received many good comments from the guests.

Wedding at Seletar Green

Our first wedding gig on 12 May was at Kelvin’s residence at Seletar Green, where we were engaged to perform for guests as they arrived, witnessed the tea ceremony and partook in a lunch buffet.

Wedding at Flutes at the Fort

Chelsea’s wedding was held at Flutes at the Fort, a quaint restaurant at the foot of Fort Canning. Playing as we walked up the steps and into the restaurant, our violin duo paved the way for the bridal couple’s grand entrance, before re-joining the Quartet to play for the rest of the solemnisation ceremony. As the lunch commenced, the Quartet moved to the interior to play another hour of our signature favourites. It was indeed heartwarming to receive kind compliments from the couple, guests and the restaurant staff!

Educational Outreach at Peiying Primary

Vetta Quartet was engaged by High Notes to present a music education outreach programme to Peiying Primary. A refreshing break from our usual wedding and corporate event engagements, our musicians certainly had a great time playing to the little faces in the audience!

Violin Duet for Wedding at Botanical Gardens

Wen Jin and Martin were at Mirror’s wedding on 29 April at the Botanical Gardens, performing light classical violin duet pieces for the prelude as friends and guests made their way. They played as the marched in front of the bride, as she made her way down the pathway into the quaint pavilion where the solemnisation ceremony was held. Celebratory music was in order as the violin duo played along for the postlude. It was certainly a pleasure to have performed for Mirror’s wedding, with several guests coming up to the duo to express their appreciation!

A word from the lovely bride:

“Thanks for your amazing performance! My friends are full of praise of you. Hope to see you again at my friends’ weddings!”

String Quartet for Malaysia-Singapore Public Service Games Dinner

Vetta Quartet was engaged by the Public Service Division, Prime Minister’s Office, to perform during the Malaysia-Singapore Public Service Games Dinner held at the East India Room, Raffles Hotel, on 28 April 2012. The string quartet performed favourite classical tunes while the delegates dined and socialised in the elegant setting.

String Quartet for Gala Night at RWS
