Kenneth’s Wedding at Fullerton Hotel

We played for Kenneth’s wedding at the Fullerton Hotel, Straits Room. As per our solemnisation ceremony “specialty”, we played for the march-in and signing of register. We finished off our engagement with an upbeat piece to usher in the dinner that was right after.

Wedding at One Rochester

We were engaged for Shushan and Henry’s wedding solemnisation and dinner at One Rochester. The intimate settings of the al fresco dining area, a quaint pavillion and the nostalgic feel from a colonial-period bungalow-turned-restaurant brought about the ideal atmosphere for a classy and elegant wedding. The guests were nicely appreciative of our string quartet music, and we received one of our kindest compliments from Shushan a few days after:

I would like to thank you and your musicians yesterday for the wonderful music yesterday night. So sorry that we were busy, hence not able to thank you all personally. We will definitely recommend our friends who are getting married soon!Henry & I both agreed that the best decision we made for the wedding celebration was to have you guys there. It’s simply that great!

Beatles and Disney for Flipside 2012 @ the Esplanade

Vetta Quartet is proud to have been one of the groups selected to perform at the Esplanade for Flipside 2012! Our programme, named “Best-Loved”, was composed by bringing together two of the best-loved creative entities of the century – The Beatles and Walt Disney. Here are some highlights of our performances across 30 and 31 May at the Esplanade Concourse. Photos and full videos to follow soon. Enjoy!

Educational Outreach at Si Ling Secondary

Vetta Quartet participated in another educational outreach programme by High Notes, this time, at Si Ling Secondary School. The string quartet’s structure and instruments were introduced, and the versatilty of a string quartet was demonstrated with our performances of a few songs of varied genres, ranging from classical to pop to tango. It seems the students related most warmly to our rendition of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida. :)

Wedding at The Arts House

Our second gig of of 12 May was at The Arts House at The Old Parliament. Nichol and Joan’s wedding solemnisation was to take place in The Chamber. We played a specially customised string quartet arrangement of “O Mio Babbino Caro”, an extremely famous and popular Italian soprano aria for Joan’s march-in, and witnessed one of the most endearing wedding moments ever.

After the ceremony, we proceeded to the foyer outside the function rooms to play our regular mix as the guests helped themselves to the buffet.

The description of the Chamber on The Arts House’s website is apt:

“Also known as the “heart” of the Old Parliament House, the former Parliamentary Debating Chamber radiates grandeur and gravitas, and will certainly make a lasting impression. Modelled after the British House of Commons utilising furnishings made and imported from London, the Chamber has a Westminster-style seating arrangement with seats facing each other.”

No wonder we couldn’t resist taking a few more photos.

Wedding at InterContinental Singapore

12 May 2012 is indeed a popular day for weddings! Our third gig of the day saw us at InterContinental Singapore to play for Wee Giap and Elisa’s wedding. We played Bach’s Gavotte for the solemnisation’s march-in, followed by Bach’s Air for the signing of register. To lighten the atmosphere, we played the swingy Theme from New York, New York for the hotel’s first dish presentation, then continued with our regular mix as the dinner commenced. Jay led the way as a violin solo for the couple’s second march-in of the night with Pachelbel’s Canon in D. (videos coming soon!)

Kind words from Wee Giap:

Jay, thanks a lot for the outstanding performance last night. Received many good comments from the guests.

Wedding at Seletar Green

Our first wedding gig on 12 May was at Kelvin’s residence at Seletar Green, where we were engaged to perform for guests as they arrived, witnessed the tea ceremony and partook in a lunch buffet.
