JingTing, Viola

Jingting, Viola, SingaporeJingTing started playing the violin at age 7 and began viola studies under the tutelage of Judy Tay at age 13. She has since achieved a Distinction for the Trinity Guildhall Level 4 Associate Diploma in Music Performance (ATCL Recital) in Viola, and a Grade 8 with distinction from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music on the Violin.

JingTing has been actively involved in chamber and orchestral performance since joining the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and various school ensembles at age 12. She was then appointed as the Principal Violist of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra at age 16. Under the guidance of the orchestra, JingTing has enjoyed great opportunities to further her passion for music. These include experiences in chamber music with the orchestra’s Principal quartet under the instruction of Singapore’s premier classical string quartet, T’ang Quartet. She has also toured with the orchestra to Florence in 2008 and Aberdeen in 2011 for their respective music festivals. In 2010, JingTing has also performed in masterclasses conducted by world renowned musicians – Yuri Bashmet (Founder and Director of Moscow Soloists), Ulrich Knörzer (Violist of Berlin Philharmonker), and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

JingTing is currently a student at the National University of Singapore, and a principal violist of the Orchestra of the Music Makers.
